Regency Cab of Gaithersburg is joining other businesses in using and promoting electric vehicles (EVs) to cut costs and contribute to a greener environment. As the second largest taxi fleet in Montgomery County, we are proud to introduce the county’s first electric taxi vehicles, marking a significant step towards sustainability.
“We are taking the environmentally responsible approach of introducing electric taxis and cars with smaller, energy-efficient engines,” said David Mohebbi, President of Regency Cab, in a statement.
By adopting electric taxis, Regency drivers are actively reducing air pollution and minimizing our carbon footprint. Additionally, the switch to electric vehicles will lower our dependency on traditional fossil fuels and contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable transportation system.
County Executive Isiah Leggett (D) praised Regency for leading by example and encouraged other companies to follow suit in cutting our dependence on foreign oil and conventional fuel consumption.
Recently, Regency was awarded 25 new taxi licenses by Montgomery County in a competitive selection process. As part of our commitment to sustainable transportation, we have decided to invest in five electric vehicles, aligning our fleet with eco-friendly alternatives.
While electric vehicles may have a higher upfront cost, their long-term benefits are undeniable. By choosing EVs, we are not only reducing harmful emissions but also saving on fuel expenses. Electric vehicles offer a more cost-effective and eco-friendly solution compared to conventional gasoline-powered cars.
In addition to transitioning to electric vehicles, we are also replacing our aging 8-cylinder models with more fuel-efficient 6-cylinder cars, further reducing our gas consumption and overall pollution by 25 percent.
